This 27th september was a huge DAY!! Actually it was again 9-09-09( 2+7=9). No, i am kidding. For the first time i have seen so many 'days' falling on a single day.The day belonged to the poor and the needy, to me (even i am a person who can be considered 'needy'), to many travelers, to the doctors, to the patients and even to the great cats. It might have been very puzzling but let me start now.
*Joy of giving week(27th sept to 3rd oct)- 'Give a little, get some joy'since last one month i was continuously reminded by TOI that the week is gonna come n we have to help anyone and give them anything which they need and esp those things which are a part of us. so finally i started with it.
One can give anything, one's time, money, things basically anything. 200 NGOs are working for this. This is a platform where all are included; no division by caste, status, region, religion.
The joy could be to a person, to the environment, to an institute and finally the result...a smile on everyone's face.
*Daughter's Day- Every forth sunday of september is being celebrated as daughter's day. since last many years i have celebrated father's and mother's day but this was the first time i came to know that there exists a day for me too. so it was a lovely start...my mousi tempering me and made a mouth watering lunch and even took me out for shopping.So it's great to have such days.
*World Heart Day- alright this is not the one for love birds..it was the serious heart which actually pumps in every system. So the whole newspaper was full of all the medical knowledge, articles to care your heart, what to eat n what not to eat which i think everyone knows but doesn't follow. it's rightly said 'Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't'.
So for all the doctors dealing with heart patients n and for all the heart patients it was a day. my dad even organized a camp with free consultation, ECG, blood tests...n blah blah.. but the best part he did was a cycling rally for the doctors. so it must have been fun to see all the elites of my place to be on cycles taking care of their hearts!!
(note-small amount of alcohol ie around 2-3 times a week, is good for the heart, it increases the HDL,the good cholesterol...trust me i am a doc too)
*World Tourism day- thanks to this newspaper reading which let me know abt all this. So UN organizes this day to promote tourism all over the world. i cross my fingers n pray for a surge in tourism in India. read a one page article about a writer's travel saga in india..it was touching.
*World Tigers day- i bet nobody was knowing this. but ya this day was started by the Phoenix fund in corraboration with a Russian NGO. but alas due to this poaching, mineral exploration, vandalization of their habitat. we are left with few thousand of them.
*Finally at the end of the day i got an sms and as per the text it is also the birth day of Bhagat singh. he was born in 1907 this very 27th sept. so next year be prepared to celebrate this day with lots of vigour n enthusiasm..hope we could bring a smile and spread some joy.
*Last but not the least, it also starts my using the blog to post something which keeps hitting my head from inside n so that i can pen down sorry ...type down my thoughts!!

TWINS----a side effect!!!!
so herez my first blog n ya i would share one of the odd things which i learned in the medical field today.
mom called me to her chamber n just asked to take the history of a lady who was lying calmly on the couch..not knowing what was inside her.I started wit the name..rookmani....c/c etc...which we gen ask. then asked her lmp(last mens period) which came out to be 2nd of this april. she just complained of lower abd pain...thts it.
then mamma started the sonography machine..a honest boon to medical science. she applied the gel...kept the probe n showed me the screen....there was something moving...i identified it as the fetus.
she kept on moving the probe n telling me abt the bladder, the fetal heart beating, the uterus wall. then suddenly in the view came a wall in the uterus. i shouted "is it a bicornuate?"
mom shrieked n asked me to look again.i was wrong...it wasnt the wall but the sac..2 sac with two fetus!!! i gasped n said " oh these r twins"
but mom didnt tel the patient abt this...she told tht she would tel this news to the attendants as pt in gen cant accept this fact. (God!!! can u just believe this....my frens would die to listen to this gift for them!!!!) those 2 fetus i could imagine.. their movt...their heart beating!!!
then i was asked to look at her prescriptions..n ya to find something v imp.
i could just trace tht her t/t started around jan. n she was on few drugs. on 2 of her papers was '5 6 7 8 9 tarik' written opp a drug levotol(or smthing like this--brand name). mom kept on asking wht was the diagnosis....but i was dumb.
then she made me realize tht actually these twins were not a natural gift but a SIDE EFFECT of the drug clomiphene.
this drug used 4 infertility was given to the lady. there is multiple ovulation...but getting twins,triplets or even quadreplets is a bit rare. n this was the side effect which the lady bore as ving twins!
[The 5 6 7 8 9 days refer to the days one has to take medicine in the mens cycle]
